Reports of Mugabe’s demise

Opposition politicians insist that President Robert Mugabe will retire before the end of 2011, which may be one reason why they want to delay the polls. The 87-year-old Mugabe had looked frail at the regional Troika meeting in Zambia on 31 March but observers said he made a dramatic recovery before the 10-11 June summit in Sandton, South Africa.
